A friend sent me a link today.  I rarely have time to click on links sent by friends, but for some reason, this one got me.  And I am so glad I did.  This is what the caption reads at the top:

These images, by photographers of the Farm Security Administration/Office of War Information, are some of the only color photographs taken of the effects of the Depression on America’s rural and small town populations. The photographs are the property of the Library of Congress and were included in a 2006 exhibit Bound for Glory: America in Color.

What follows are 70 reproductions of full color slides around the years 1939-1940.

Amazing.  The focus of my blog is about giving our own children solid roots in Christ and family and the freedom and strength to follow wherever the Lord will lead them, and hopefully helping you to do the same.  I am touched by these photographs of life back when my grandparents and Jason’s parents were children.  Seeing the hope, the perseverance, the grime – all of the daily living that developed the solid roots passed down to our parents and eventually to us.

Somehow looking back at these photographs encourages me to see the blessings looking forward.  A renewed energy.

Captured: America in Color from 1939-1940

Enjoy.
